Selective intervention has brought the appropriate, completely new and high-quality aura to a large, two-storey apartment from the 1990s in the Grunewald district of Berlin.

Interior design of a maisonette

The maisonette apartment with a roof terrace is located in an exquisite residential area on the shores of the Halensee at the western end of the Kurfürstendamm. It is situated on the second floor of a multi-family dwelling and offers impressive views of the small lake. A complete face-lift has given a timelessly elegant look to the apartment with the chic of the 1990s. The extensive living area was almost completely gutted, a gallery level inserted, and rooms merged to provide a generous layout.

The open kitchen, new bathrooms and walk-in dressing rooms were designed with built-in furniture of vividly grained walnut and rosewood. The imposing wood in the living areas presents a strong contrast to the light limed wood of the Douglas fir floors. Room dividers, shelves and sideboards were likewise planned in wood and with burnished copper fronts. Grey-beige natural stone with an interesting colour gradient was selected for the high-quality bathrooms with a new layout. In part double-winged, ceiling-high doors match the tone of the limed wooden floor and the grey-beige, high-pile carpet. A layered natural stone wall in the living area has an integral fireplace and serves as a balustrade to the stairway leading to the upper floor. The latter features an illuminated wooden hand rail.
